COOP News Vol. 2, No. 4, July 20, 2008
Well, the roosters are crowing, COOP is growing and our next meeting is approaching.
Amy Wallwork lives in Oreland / Upper Dublin and has several hens and an unexpected rooster. She is involved with Pennypack Farm.
Chris Reif lives in Oreland / Springfield and has three Red Star hens he got from Moyer's in Quakertown a year ago. Chris saw the article in the Springfield Sun and contacted us through the website!
Manny and Luchy Saler live in Erdenheim on Fraser Road. If you've ever driven that road and seen the beautiful Macaws and Cockatoo lounging around on the front lawn, that's their house. Manny also read about us in the Sun and is going to be acquiring some egg-laying hens for his backyard
We now have 29 members! Who knew there were so many chicken owners in suburban Philadelphia.
Unfortunately I have had no responses to my rooster inquiries for Amy, Melinda and (possibly) Ron. I posted something on the Backyard Chicken forum but no takers. Maybe if I had some pictures?? Ron can take them to Pennypack Farm if need be. Melinda's rooster Milly is developing a nice cock-a-doodle-doo. I hear him in the morning trying it out.
Our next meeting will be on Sunday August 10 at 4pm at Lisa and Laurie's house at 29 West Mill Road, Flourtown 19031. Please email Laurie at email@example.com if you can come and what sort of food and/or beverage you will be bringing.
L&L have a big yard, two wonderful golden retrievers and a kiddie pool (for the dogs but they can be encouraged to share) so please bring the kids if you have them.
I look forward to seeing everyone in August.
